May 20, 2012: Annular Solar Eclipse in Bryce Canyon National Park

We flew to Las Vegas and drove to Bryce Canyon for this awesome event.  Not being able to pack a large telescope on a plane, I simply packed my Sony hybrid camera, the CyberShot DSC H7.  By "hybrid" I mean that it isn't really an DSLR nor it is it a "point and shoot" camera, but somewhere in between.  I had bought a small glass solar filter and used it to cover the camera.  Then I set it to manual exposure and put it on the tripod.  No elaborate tracking here!  But I was still happy to get a sequence of photos that I could assemble into a movie.  So click on the photo below to see my movie!
