June 5, 2012:  Venus Transit from Depoe Bay

Just as we thought that the clouds were here to stay, the sun came out just and Venus started its transit!  So I quicklly set up my Sony  Cybershot DSC H7 and started snapping photos.  At this point I had the Orion ED80T CF Triplet Apochromatic Refractor Telescope and a Canon EOS 30D SLR Camera.  But I still had not mastered how to capture photos with this equiipment.  So I decided to fall back to using my old reliable Sony Cybershot.   I had set up my equipment on the back deck of our house in Depoe Bay.

Click on the photo below to see a movie of the snapshots that I took.  Note that I had forgotten to adjust the exposure correctly on the first few snapshots, so please bear with me, a complete novice in astrophotography!

NOTE:  Subtract 7 hours from the above times.  They are in UTC or Universal time Coordinates.
The photos were taken in Oregon which was on Pacific Daylilght time.
